About York Wines
Welcome to York Wines!
We are one of Yorkshire's leading independent wine merchants, importers and wholesalers, based in the historic village of Sheriff Hutton, 10 miles North of York.
The majority of our wines are sourced directly from the vineyards which enables us to sell the best quality wines at the best prices. Many of the wines we offer are exclusive to our list.
Quality is the most important factor when it comes to the wines we list. Each wine needs to be a good representation of the wines from that a region and country.
We taste all the wines before we buy and stock them, and we taste each new vintage of every wine before we decide to continue with it. It's a hard life, but somebody has to do it! If a wine is not good enough or a vintage is not good enough then we will not buy it.
We carefully (and hopefully in straightforward terms,) describe our wines in order to help you find exactly the wines you require. For customers who would like additional information, we have a more detailed section with more detailed information on each of our wines.
Our wine stock list is constantly evolving, and we do have access to many more. We are not normally able to source single bottles (except for rare and specialist wines), but for cases or more - if the wines you are looking for are not here then please contact us and we will try to assist you.
Whether you want to pop by the shop, order online or give us a ring, we are here to help you discover wines you love.

Welcome to our Shop
On 1st November 2022 we moved to our new home at Moor Farm from our previous base at Wellington House in Sheriff Hutton. It's fair to say that we had outgrown our space there and a wonderful opportunity arose to create our own purpose built premises enabling us to have a bigger retail space and room to host tasting events.
In our shop you will find all our wines on display, as well as the local bottled beers and gin we sell. We also have a small but perfectly formed selection of whisky.
Our opening hours are:
Monday to Friday - 9am to 5pm
Saturday - 10.30am to 4.30pm
Events: Wine Wednesdays
A series of evening tasting events taking place on the last Wednesday of every month, at York Wines' fabulous Moor Farm premises.
Join us to chat about, and taste some lovely, interesting and more unusual wines in a relaxed and informal setting.
Wine Wednesdays will give you the perfect opportunity to try before you buy!
We have a number of visiting producers and suppliers throughout the year, who will be showcasing their ranges, and will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
For just £7.50 per person, per evening, you will be able to taste a minimum of 5 wines, and if you buy 12 tickets in advance, you will just pay for 10.
