Masut Chardonnay 2019
Masut Estate Chardonnay is a wonderful new addition to the York Wines portfolio. The Masut winery sits high on the ridge of the Redwood Valley in Mendocino County in California. This wonderful Californian Chardonnay from Masut Estate Vineyard and Winery has a beautifully inviting nose. There are multiple layers of complexity on the nose and then this continues as you move on to taste the wine. There are hints of sweetness followed by savoury notes and then some more sweetness. The wine is rich and oily and utterly delicious. At the Masut vineyard the fruit is picked by hand and shuttled from the estate vines directly to the cellar. Small open top tanks are used to keep each vineyard block and clone separate through fermentation. The new wines are aged in French oak barrels "sure lie" for up to 15 months before being bottled, unfined and unfiltered.
