Blair Athol 2009 13YO AD Rattray
This Blair Athol was matured in a bourbon hogshead for over 10 years and then transferred to an Oloroso sherry-seasoned cask from Bodegas Hidalgo for 3 years.
The sherry cask previously contained an Islay whisky, so both the stone fruit notes of the sherry and the coastal smoke of the Islay malt are evident on the palate. Colour: Deep amber. Nose: Wild strawberry, lapsang souchong and beeswax. Palate: Smoked orange marmalade, dried cranberry and fig roll. Finish: Charred peach and walnut, lifted by subtle clove.
