Domaine Ardhuy Ladoix 1er Cru Le Rognet

Code: AJ38

£61.75

The Domaine d`Ardhuy is a family estate passed on from father to daughters and is situated on the border between the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits.

le Rognet is a monopole vineyard and lies at around 340 metres on a fairly steep, south-east facing slope on the Corton hill. Marly limestone soils are just like those in neighbouring Corton-Charlemagne. The vineyard would almost certainly have been classified as a Grand Cru if it had been planted with vines at the time of official classification!

This gorgeous wine carries the less well known Ladoix label, but could easily be mistaken for its grander next door neighbour. Rich, complex, oaked but not overpoweringly so. A touch of the exotic can be found with aromas of honeysuckle, lychee and melon, all of which is trimmed in subtle but perceptible wood. There is again both good volume and richness to the medium-bodied flavours that flash a touch of bitter lemon rind on the sneaky long finish.
